15/02/2010 ¦ National Association News Austrian Brewers defy crisis and ´unfold´ new beer guide
The Austrian Brewers Association also recently presented a unique beer guide to promote the diversity of Austrian beer. Shaped as a fan, for cooling down on those warm summer days, the guide is called ‘the Beer Fan for Beer Fans.’ Over 34 fan leafs in various colours, 34 beer styles are described, giving information on beer glasses, serving temperatures, how beer should be served, alcohol content, flavour, and recommended food combinations.

Last year Austrians consumed 8.4 million hectolitres of beer. Although Austrian brewers did miss the result of the record year 2008 (which had been fuelled by the European Football Championship held in Austria) by 3 percent, beer consumption in Austria still was at the high level of 2007.
